Classic Wooden Toolbox Plans - Cut the Side Pieces of the Classic Wooden Toolbox

Cut Sides to Length

Cut Sides to Length

(c) 2007 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
Once the end pieces for the wooden toolbox are cut to length, we'll work on the two side pieces. The remaining 1x10 will need to be ripped into two strips, which will each then be cut to length.

Set the fence on your table saw or radial arm saw to cut at a width of 4-inches. Then, run the remaining piece of 1x10 through the saw twice, creating two 4"-wide strips.

Re-configure your table saw or radial arm saw to 8" wide, and rip the two end pieces (which you cut to length in the previous step) to this width.

Then, use your radial arm saw, compound miter saw or circular saw to cut these two strips to 24-inches in length.
