Set the depth of cut for your stacked dado set to remove 3/4" of stock.

Next, make marks 1-1/2" in from each end on two sides of each coffee table leg. Be certain that you mark the same two sides on the bottom of the leg that you marked on the top of the leg. Use a square to scribe the cut lines.

Using your radial arm saw or table saw with the stacked dado set, remove the material on each end of each table leg as denoted by your marks.

One note of caution if you're using a table saw to complete this step. Do not attempt to use your fence while making these cross-cuts, as the fence can cause the stock to bind and kick back, a very dangerous situation. Instead, use your miter gauge to guide the stock past the blade, all the while keeping your fingers a safe distance away from the blade.
