At this point, this project is basically complete. However, there are some finishing touches you may wish to add.
First, you may want to attach some 3/4" wide screen mold to the shelving unit to cover the exposed edges of the plywood. While this step isn't mandatory, it will definitely help give a finished look to the sewing storage center.
Second, you may want to attach a bungee cord to one of the upper shelves with a couple of eye-hooks to help hold the ironing board in place when it is not in use. The bungee can be released to lower the ironing board.
Third, you might decide to employ a leg brace to lock the ironing board leg down into position when the board is in use. Your local home center should have a variety of options you could employ here.
Fourth, you'll obviously need a standard, full-sized ironing board cover before using the board.
If you want to apply any finish to the shelving unit and ironing board, be sure to do so before beginning to use the unit. Once finished, you can begin to store your craft or sewing materials in plastic containers, available at any big-box discount store. For instance, a popular option are the Sterilite plastic containers available at Wal-Mart and other discount stores.
