Place the piece of plywood to be cut with the hole in the plywood over the pivot nail. The edge of the plywood (from which you measured to determine the pivot point) should be against the left side of the jigsaw blade.
Align the nail with the hole, and press firmly downward on the plywood until the plywood is flat against the face of the jig. You should be able to turn the board on the pivot point a little bit, although the blade will impede the ability to turn the plywood.
