1. Bessey Revo K-Body Bar Clamps

Bessey K-Body Revo Bar Clamp(c)2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
Bessey has been a trusted names in woodworking clamps for over sixty years. Their signature woodworking clamp has been re-engineered, and the result is the impressive Revo K-Body Bar Clamp. These bar clamps are available in lengths from 12-60 inches, and can even be lengthened further using the optional bolt-on K-Body Clamp Extender.

2. Irwin Quick Grip Woodworking Clamps

Irwin Quick Grip Woodworking Clamp(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
Irwin's Quick Grip Woodworking Clamps employed a significant improvement over the traditional bar clamp. Instead of employing a twist grip, which typically requires one hand to hold the clamp in place while the other tightens the jaw, Irwin's Quick Grip allows the woodworker to squeeze the handle with the same hand that holds the clamp in place. This is ideal for clamping tasks where the woodworker must hold the workpiece with one hand and clamp with the other. Irwin's Quick Grip comes in a variety of sizes from 6-36" in length, and I'd recommend that every woodworker have a few, simply because of their practical one-handed ease of use.

3. Kreg K3 Master Pocket Hole Jig

Kreg K3 Master Pocket Hole Jig(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
Pocket joints are a basic yet effective means for joining parts of a face frame. However, creating pocket joints by hand can be a little bit of a tricky task to complete properly. Enter the pocket hole jig, such as the Kreg K3 Pocket Hole System. This simple, inexpensive, yet highly effective steel, aluminum and plastic jig has all of the features one would need to create nearly any perfect pocket joint.

4. Bosch JS5 Jigsaw

Bosch JS5 Jigsaw(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
The Bosch JS5 T-Shank Orbital Jigsaw is loaded with features like an adjustable dust blower to keep sawdust out of the cut line, a one-handed T-shank blade change mechanism and a smooth, powerful electric motor. The result is a fine jigsaw that cuts clean, true lines with minimal vibration. A great choice to add to anyone's woodworking tool arsenal.

5. Milwaukee 5616-24 Router Kit

Milwaukee has long had a reputation for making very sturdy, solidly-built professional power woodworking tools, and in that respect, the Milwaukee 5616-24 certainly doesn't disappoint. With thoughtful features such as an above-the-table height adjustment, as well as both dual handles and a wrap-around grip built into the fixed base, the Milwaukee 5616-24 has a lot to offer to any woodworker who needs a well-built, durable router kit.

6. Porter-Cable 4212 Deluxe Dovetail Jig

With the Porter-Cable 4212 Deluxe Dovetail Jig (along with a router with the proper router bits), the woodworker on your list can create through dovetails, half-blind dovetails, rabbeted half-blind dovetails, sliding dovetails, box joints and more. Equipped with an excellent workpiece clamping system, the jig's versatility makes this dovetail system a terrific value.

7. Bosch 1617EVS Router Kit

Bosch 1617EVS Fixed Base & Plunge Router Kit(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
The Bosch 1617EVS Fixed Base & Plunge Router Kit is a very well-built router combo that has withstood the test of time. The fixed base works great, whether used by hand or in a router table, and the height adjustment is quite precise. The plunge base with this router kit is one of my favorites, with very comfortable handles, a good locking mechanism and a smooth plunge action. A very good value that also makes a great woodworking gift.

8. Ridgid BS1400 Band Saw

Ridgid BS1400 Band Saw(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
Looking to give a band saw for a woodworking gift? Check out the Ridgid BS1400 Band Saw. This band saw is a great value for a first band saw for woodworkers developing their skill level, such as hobbyists and beginning woodworkers. For those not looking for a high-end, expensive band saw, but instead a solidly-built model that will handle most band saw tasks admirably, this is one to consider.

9. Porter-Cable 893PK Router Kit

Porter-Cable 893PK Fixed Base & Plunge Base Router Kit(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
As far as combination router kits (which consist of a single motor with interchangeable fixed and plunge bases) are concerned, they don't come much better than the Porter-Cable 893PK Fixed Base & Plunge Base Router Kit. This combo router kit is loaded with features that were obviously designed or requested by woodworkers who use their routers a lot and know what features they need. Porter-Cable has a winner in the 893PK.

10. Milwaukee 6955-20 Sliding Dual-Bevel Miter Saw

Milwaukee 6955-20 Sliding Dual-Bevel Miter Saw(c) 2009 Chris Baylor licensed to About.com, Inc.
For a woodworker who needs a compound miter saw, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend a better choice than the Milwaukee 6955-20 Sliding Dual-Bevel Miter Saw. While it is rather heavy to be used as a portable saw, and is a bit pricey, the unit is well-built and very precise. Think of it as an investment in a feature-laden tool that the woodworker on your list will be able to use for years, and it'll be money well-spent.
