Having traveled a little bit through South America and the Caribbean, I'm always enamored with the quality of craftsmanship that I see in the wooden doors of the buildings in this part of the world. For instance, years ago on a trip to Barbados, I saw numerous homes that looked like little more than run-down shanties, but that were each adorned with a marvelously-crafted mahogany door.
On a recent trip to South America, I immediately noticed a similar theme: while many buildings looked to be in some continuing state of repair (or dis-repair, as it may have been), they all seemed to have an incredibly interesting, large wooden door. So, I began to take pictures.
In this woodworking gallery, you'll find some of my favorite wooden doors from this trip to South America.
Have a picture of a wooden door that you'd like to add to the gallery? It may be one of your own, that shows off your handiwork, or a picture that you have taken yourself. Feel free to submit your photo.
