The Bottom Line
The Painter's Pyramid is a very interesting idea: position a number of strong, plastic pyramid-shaped blocks under a project, which allows the woodworker to be able to paint one side of a project, then flip the unit upside down and paint the edges and the opposite side. With ten identical plastic pyramids in a pack, you'll have enough support to complete almost any typical woodworking project of up to 200 pounds. The pyramids are resistant to paints and solvents, and can be easily attached to sawhorses or woodworking tables.
This is a very useful finishing tool, one that makes finishing multi-sided projects easier.

Pros
- Made from nonstick material impermeable to paints and solvents
- Works with all types of paints and stains
- Will hold up to 200 pounds
Cons
- Didn't see it in our tests, but would be cautious about points of pyramids indenting very soft woods
Description
- Very light-weight and easy to store
- The rounded tip that contacts your work shouldn't damage any material except possibly very heavy projects of soft woods.
- Would like to see a bigger set available for larger projects
Guide Review - Review of the Painter's Pyramid
To use a set of Painter's Pyramids, position a number of pyramids (sold in packs of ten) under one side of your woodworking project so that the entire project is lifted off of your woodworking table or sawhorses and is stable. Then you can paint, stain or finish the top side only of your project.
Next, flip the project upside down, placing the finished side on top of the pyramids. Then, finish the edges and the opposite side of the project. Because of the rounded tips, the pyramids shouldn't mar the finish of the side that is down.
