The Bottom Line

The Duofast DF350S Framing Nailer is a lightweight, durable framing nailer with a powerful motor and features that set it apart from other framing nailers. For instance, the Duofast DF350S Framing Nailer includes well-designed features such as a switchable trigger (to switch between sequential and bounce firing), a metal exhaust cap (for tapping framing members into place) and a lockout feature that eliminates blank firing.

Like all pneumatic framing nailers, it requires a substantial compressor to operate properly, but with a compact design that is able to get into tight spots, framers will love this nailer.

Pros

  • Well balanced, lightweight design
  • Metal exhaust cap for framers who typically massage board positions with the head of the nailer
  • Lockout function eliminates annoying blank firing
  • Switchable trigger between sequential and bump firing

Cons

  • Encountered some minor sparking when driving nails - should clear up when tool breaks in

Description

  • Top load magazine holds up to 70 nails
  • Easily adjustable drive depth adjustment allows for easy depth of nail drive without adjusting compressor output
  • Includes rafter hook, lock out feature to eliminate blank firing and switchable trigger

Guide Review - Duofast DF350S Framing Nailer

Most woodworkers who spend their time in a woodshop will likely have little use for a top-notch framing nailer, but for carpenters who make their living building houses, a durable framing nailer is as important as their right arm. The Duofast DF350S includes well thought-out features that carpenters will appreciate.

For instance, nearly every framer has, at one time or another, used the head of the framing nailer to tap a board into position. Nailers with a plastic exhaust cap can be damaged by such typical use, but by adding a metal cap, the nailer will be much more durable, leading to longer tool life.

This Duofast framing nailer includes a single switchable trigger that can easily be switched between bounce firing (where the operator simply holds the trigger and when the nose safety of the nailer is depressed against the wood, the nailer automatically fires) and sequential firing (where the nailer's trigger must be individually depressed for each nail fired). Many other nailers require a separate trigger, but on the Duofast framing nailer, the same trigger can be used in either manner.

As mentioned above, all pneumatic framing nailers require a substantial supply of air from the compressor. In the case of the Duofast DF350S, at 80-120 psi, a pair of these nailers operating on the same compressor with up to 200 feet of hose would require between 200-500 CFM of air. Refer to the owner's manual for a chart to help define the size of compressor required for your specific needs.
