Teak is a popular hardwood used in making outdoor patio furniture or decks because of the wood's ability to withstand the elements. Teak gets a bit of a bad rap from environmentally-conscious consumers because popular sentiment is that harvesting teak involves clear-cutting of rain forests.
What many people may not realize is that there are two common species sold as teak, and the more commonly-offered species actually is not native to the area in which it is grown, but instead was imported specifically for the purpose of farming the tree.
Learn all about these different varieties in Woodworking with Teak, as well as how to get the most out of your projects using this hardwood.
