While the jointer is a common woodworking machine in production shops (and well-outfitted home woodshops), many hobbyist woodworkers may not have the shop space (or the budget) for a dedicated jointer. This is unfortunate because a jointer is a very handy tool for truing up the edges of boards.
For those who don't have space or funds for a dedicated jointer, there is another option: Jointing Edges on a Table Saw. With the use of a jointer jig, one can easily and quickly square an edge of a board, thus avoiding the need for another too. It's an easy jig to build and one that is simple to use.
