Band SawWhen you're just starting out in woodworking, or even if you've been at it a while and need a tool to add to your collection, buying new tools may give you a case of sticker-shock. New woodworking tools can be expensive, for certain.

This may lead you to consider buying used woodworking tools, but keep in mind that used tools aren't always as much of a bargain as you might think. In many cases, you can find a great buy, but in other instances, you may as well throw your money out the window. To avoid getting ripped off, follow the steps in this Used Woodworking Tool Buying Guide whenever you want to save a few bucks and buy used tools.

When I first got interested in woodworking I purchased many used tools and the majority of them are still in use today. It is a great way to get started.
