Cutting half-blind dovetails cleanly is much more challenging than cutting a standard through dovetail joint. Half-blind dovetails are ideal for situations like dovetailed drawers where the face frame of the drawer doubles as the front wall of the drawer box (meaning that there isn't a false front on the drawer). In such a scenario, you would want to see the dovetail when the drawer is opened, but not on the face of the drawer (hence the name, half-blind).
Some dovetail jigs allow you to cut half-blind dovetails, where others are restricted to through dovetails only. In this article, learn the secrets to cutting clean, matching Half-Blind Dovetails for use in your woodworking projects.
