How to Replace a Drill Chuck

By , About.com GuideJuly 31, 2012

Removing a Keyed Drill ChuckMost power drills and cordless drills use a three-jaw chuck, either keyed or keyless. There are exceptions, mainly impact drivers, but for the most part, this type of chuck is the most popular for holding drill bits and screw tips into place on the end of the drill.

What should you do if your drill chuck becomes damaged? Or what if you want to replace a keyed drill chuck with a keyless chuck? Do you need to buy a new drill?

The answers to these questions can be found in How to Replace a Drill Chuck. Truth be told, replacing a drill chuck is a very easy task, one that should take less than five minutes.
