If you're in the Columbus, Ohio area, or will be on August 21st, this may be one of the most memorable events you ever attend. If you're not in the Columbus area on that day, you may wish you were.
The Ohio Tool Racing Championships will be held from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on August 21st, at the Columbus Idea Foundry, located at 2038 Leonard Avenue in Columbus, Ohio.
What are tool races?
Basically, there are two main classes, stock and "Top Fuel" (which basically means almost anything goes), plus an under-18 class. These are essentially 75-foot drag races down a track with two electric-powered tools racing to see who gets to the finish line first. Think of a highly-souped up belt sander flying down the track, and you'll get the idea. Better yet, check out one of the tool races from last year. (BTW, rumor has it that the pig was miraculously saved and will be back this year.)
