How the SawStop Blade Brake Works

Monday November 17, 2008
In a recent woodworking tool review, I tested the new SawStop Contractor Saw, which uses the SawStop blade brake safety technology made famous with their "hot dog demos." However, in that review I didn't go into detail as to how the blade brake actually works, and how this technology can help prevent devastating hand injuries should a woodworker's finger or hand accidentally come into contact with the blade.

If you've never checked out this technology, or are pondering a table saw purchase, this safety feature is something to consider. Safety isn't "sexy" when selling tools, but after watching the hot dog demo (especially in person), I would dare anyone to think that this isn't an amazing concept.

Learn more about this blade brake technology in How the SawStop Blade Brake Works. Then, check out the hot dog demo and judge for yourself.
