Shed Some Light on Your Work

Sunday November 16, 2008
With my relatively small workshop, I like to work on many woodworking projects outdoors. However, there are certain tools (such as the drill press or band saw) that aren't very portable, so I have to use them inside the shop. Because I spend so much of my woodworking time outside, I've not spent a lot of effort on lighting within my shop.

This can be a bit of problem when working with these tools, as shadows often interfere with the light on my work piece. However, there are quick and easy solutions. In this woodworking tip, we discuss a simple, inexpensive way to shed some light on your work by use of a magnetic-base, goose neck lamp. It is easily portable between tools and can be used for hundreds of other tasks around the house.

Here is another idea: Striker has developed a handy Magnetic LED Light with twelve powerful rare earth magnets that allows the user to attach the intense, wide-angle LED light to any steel surface.
