How to Make Sliding Dovetail Joints

Tuesday September 30, 2008
In an upcoming project, you'll be seeing some sliding dovetail joints. Of all dovetail joints, the sliding dovetail may be the most versatile. Not only can sliding dovetail joints be used in the construction of drawers and cases, they are extremely useful for connecting table legs to pedestals, attaching the ends of a cutting board, joining shelves to cabinetry and much more.

However, the sliding dovetail may be the least well-known of all dovetail joints. In Sliding Dovetail Joints, learn about this incredibly useful joint, as well as methods for creating sliding dovetail joints for use in your woodworking plans.

I’m sorry, but this was useless. Telling me to read a users guide that came with a dovetail bit does not help. Why would I be searching for the answer if I had it already?
