Question About The Ultimate Sawhorses

Saturday January 19, 2008
I recently was asked a question about our free woodworking plans for The Ultimate Wood Sawhorses. This person wanted to know why the braces are on the inside of the lower sawhorse (when stacked) rather than the outside (as they are on the upper sawhorse).

The reason that the braces are on the inside of the lower sawhorse is so that they don't interfere with the upper unit when they are stacked. If the braces were positioned outside of the legs on the lower sawhorse, these braces would interfere with the legs of the upper sawhorse. This is evident in the image to the right, where I've circled the inner braces (and notice that I never bothered to remove the UPC labels from the 2x4s when I built this set a few years ago!).

Do you need a set of sawhorses? Download this set of free woodworking plans, and build your own set of Ultimate Sawhorses.
