Matching Wood Fillers With Stained Woods

Thursday August 9, 2007
One common woodworking problem is how to fill nail holes and blemishes in woodworking projects that will be stained. Often, the stain on the wood filler will not match the stained areas surrounding the filled hole. Even worse, bigger blemishes can appear if the wood filler isn't dealt with properly (which kind of defeats the purpose).

In Matching Wood Fillers With Stained Woods, we discuss a number of strategies for matching wood fillers with the surrounding wood, both before and after the stain is applied. Next time you have a set of woodworking plans that require staining, give one of these ideas a try.
